A Surprise Proposal I Will Never Forget

Some sessions stay with you forever, and this surprise proposal at Chandler Hill Vineyards in Defiance Missouri will always be one of them. Tyler and Rachel are such a special couple to me, but Tyler in particular feels like family. I have known him since he was two years old. Our moms were best friends, I babysat him growing up, and he has always been like my little brother. So when he asked me to photograph his proposal, I was over the moon.

Chandler Hill Vineyards provided the most stunning backdrop for this moment. The rolling hills, stacked wine barrels, and soft evening light made everything feel serene and romantic. When the two of them arrived, I asked them to do a few photos so I could get my settings ready for my next clients. Tyler and I had planned the entire thing down to the minute, and the excitement was unreal.

To keep the surprise alive, after a few poses, I positioned them back to back, which was our signal. The moment I told them to turn toward each other, Tyler dropped to one knee. Rachel froze for a second before the tears started, and soon all three of us were crying. It was pure magic.

Her hands covered her face, his voice shook, and the joy between them filled the whole vineyard. Every girl dreams of a proposal filled with love, surprise, and emotion, and this moment checked every single box. It was perfect.

Watching someone who feels like family find their forever person is something I will always treasure. I am so grateful I could capture every part of their story in a place as beautiful as Chandler Hill Vineyards.
