A Gravel Road Family Photo Session to Remember

This gravel road family photo session with the Oden Family was one of the sweetest highlights of my September. The Odens, owners of Wes Oden Trucking, have become some of our closest friends, the kind of friends who feel like family. Our boys even call each other “brother friends,” which perfectly describes the bond they share. So when they asked me to photograph their family session this year, my heart was truly honored.

We planned their session for a beautiful September day, and the warm sunlight made the gravel road glow. There is just something about country roads that brings out the most natural smiles and the most genuine family moments. The soft dust, the open sky, the quiet surroundings — it all gives families space to breathe and just be themselves.

The Oden Family was exactly that. The kids laughed, and were adorable , Mom and dad were relaxed and full of love, soaking in every moment with their littles. The connection between them was effortless, and it made photographing them feel like time spent with family rather than a session.

As the sun dipped lower, the light wrapped around them in the prettiest golden glow. It was the perfect setting for a family who works hard, loves deeply, and treats everyone around them with kindness. The Odens truly are some of the sweetest people I know, and capturing their memories on a gravel road felt like the most fitting backdrop for their story.

Sessions like this remind me why I love what I do. It is more than photos. It is friendships, family, connection, and moments that feel like home.
