Why book an Engagement session?

All so often I hear couples asking, Why book an Engagement session? Or do I really need to book an Engagement session with you? So here I am answer this all to often question! So why do I think booking an Engagement session with me is so important if I’m your wedding photographer? And truly this is a great question!! Engagement session give us time to interact with each other. This allows me to see not only how you two react together but also how you react to my style of shooting.

Can photographers really shoot that differently?

YES! Along with each photographer having their own unique editing style, they also have different ways of interacting with their clients. A technique I often use is getting my clients prompts that create a certain movement or emotional reaction. So I might tell you to whisper something in your partners ear, or walk and bump your hips together. Now for most clients this allows you to relax and give me a certain emotion to your image.

Does this work for every client?

NO! No this type of prompting does not work with every client and I can typically tell that right away. Or you may do great with directions like bumping hips together, but are to shy to use the talking prompts. So during your engagement session I can make note of this to give us the most of our time together on your wedding day! (Ps I know this because my husband does not react well to talking prompts, BUT if you tell him to look like he’s whispering in my ear he will do great!)

What if we don’t like PDA?

Now most the time if you fit in this category you’re probably not going to tell me out right, but I can tell this how you react to that prompt. Again noticing this during your Engagement session will allow me, with more time, to learn what poses you do love and react greatly too!
